[Warta 4 Katong] VP Boediono Scheduled To Visit Outlying Island

Warta 4 Katong has posted a new item, 'VP Boediono Scheduled To Visit Outlying
Island'

Vice President Boediono is scheduled to visit four outlying islands bordering
Australia and Timor Leste on November 5-6.

"The vice president will take advantage of the visit to see for himself the
condition of the people living in the four outlying islands which serve as a
veranda of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia in Maluku Tenggara Barat district,"
district head Bitsael Silvester Temmar said here on Monday.

Temmar expressed hope there would be a change in the central government's policy
on the development of the four outlying islands following the vice president's
visit.

"We hope after the visit there will be a new policy on the part of the central
government to speed up the development of the outlying islands to promote the
local people's living standard," he said.

During his two-day visit, the vice president was expected to officiate at a
number of development projects and hand assistance to the poor, Maluku Governor
Karel Albert Ralahalu said.

The projects included a regional general hospital, a regional library, and a
number of government offices.

"As we all know Maluku Tenggara Barat is one of the backward areas which has the
highest number of impoverished people among ten districts and municipalities in
Maluku province. We hope the vice president's visit will be of great
significance to speed up development projects, and improve social services
there," the governor said.

During the visit, Boediono will be accompanied by his wife, Herawati, and a
number of ministers.
